Ambassadors

Young people interested in becoming an Ambassador can email Afruja at Afruja@burgesssports.org to sign up. Our sessions run every holiday (58 days a year), Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 3 PM. The programme offers a clear progression path, allowing Ambassadors to further develop their skills and even join our after-school literacy club to mentor younger children. Ambassadors also have the opportunity to participate in occasional trips and residentials, enriching their experience beyond regular sessions.

Our Commitment to Supporting Young People

We are dedicated to empowering young people by providing guidance, support, and practical opportunities to help them thrive.

  • Youth-Led Conversations – We actively listen to young people through focus groups, surveys, and discussions to understand their needs and interests.
  • Structured Programmes – Our Ambassador Programme fosters leadership, peer mentoring, and personal development, while sessions on first aid, scenario-based learning, and social media awareness equip them with essential life skills.
  • Accessible Information & Guidance – We offer workshops, mentorship, and hands-on learning to ensure young people have the knowledge and tools they need.
  • Safe & Supportive Spaces – We create inclusive environments where young people feel comfortable seeking support, with signposting to external services when needed (e.g., mental health, career advice, safeguarding).

By prioritizing youth voice, accessibility, and real-world skills, we ensure young people receive the support they need to grow, succeed, and contribute positively to their communities.

As part of our vision to give every child a great start in life, we are committed to developing the young people who come through our holiday and afterschool programmes.

We have over 100 teenagers who have come through our ambassador programme. They are given the chance to gain employability skills through us alongside work and volunteering opportunities. They are involved in helping us run after school activities and holiday programmes.

Programme Leaders

At Burgess Sports, volunteers play a crucial role in supporting coaches and staff, contributing significantly to the success of our sessions. Our Young Ambassadors Programme is designed to enhance the skills, knowledge, and experience of young volunteers in sport coaching and related areas.

Programme Overview:

The Young Ambassadors Programme aims to develop future leaders in sports by providing training in various domains such as sports coaching, sports nutrition, health and safety, confidence building, and event creation. Volunteers dedicate their time to support the organization, and this program is tailored for those looking to advance their learning in sport coaching, sports development, and leadership.

Programme Benefits:

Participants will gain practical experience and theoretical knowledge, preparing them for roles in sports coaching and beyond. The program also provides opportunities for personal growth and career development, equipping volunteers with essential skills for future endeavors.
